"News of Agrarian Science", volume 3, N 3 (in Russian)
Summary
In mountainous dark coniferous forests certain substitution of bedding types
is revealed, which is connected with contents of stands and with a high level of
forest growing. Ash contents of main types of spruce and silver fir formation
bedding has been investigated.
Tiginashvili Z., Svanidze M. - Regulation of process of species substitution
in coppices where pine and spruce prevail. State Agrarian University, "Problems
of Agrarian Science", volume 31.
Summary
Results of studying of natural renewal of forest and species substitution
under the cover in the plots, where pine and spruce prevail and the openings
(windows) of different diameter are discussed in the article. It is determined
that substitution of pine by spruce in the resort forests is undesirable.
Recommendations on stoppage and regulation of this process are given.
Tiginashvili G. - The character of growing of the Caucasian pine in height
and peculiarities of its coppice formation. State Agrarian University, "Problems
of Agrarian Science", volume 31.
Summary
Peculiarities of growing of Caucasian pine coppices spread in Mariamdjvari
forest reserve in height according to thickness stages, age and number of trees
are discussed in the article. Distribution of number of trees and stock is
given, taking into account stages of height and thickness. It is determined that
increase in height of pine is proportional to increase of thickness stages, age
and stock, and inversely proportional to number of trees.
Tiginashvili Z. - Vertical construction of the Caucasian pine in Mariamdjvari
state forest reserve. State Agrarian University, "Problems of Agrarian Science",
volume 31.
Summary
Vertical construction (layering) of the Caucasian pine in Mariamdjvari
reserve is given in the article, due to which we conclude that pine forest in
Mariamdjvari reserve is characterized by coppices of all-aged complicated
construction, where some generations of all-aged trees are presented and layers
are allotted, which is dependent on ecological conditions, among them on soil
factors.
Tiginashvili Z. - Natural renewal of the Caucasian pine in state Mariamdjvari
reserve. State Agrarian University, "Problems of Agrarian Science", volume 33.
Summary
Results of studying of natural renewal of the Caucasian pine under the cover
of dry eco-type pine are discussed in the article. The course of growing of
juvenile pine in the opening of different diameters is analyzed. In the result
of research it was defined, that renewal of pine under the cover proceeds very
slowly but quite enough for the origin and development of all-aged pine forests.
Natural renewal of pine in openings proceeds quite well or satisfactorily. In
the result of studying of juvenile pine growing process it is defined that at
the every gradation of age with the increase of diameter of opening the middle
height of a juvenile tree increases.
Amanatashvili L. - Present day situation of natural renewal in East Georgian
oak groves. V. Gulisashvili Mountain Forestry Institute Works, volume 40.
Summary
Georgian oak (Uercus Iberica Stev.) is the most widely spread species among
other oaks in Georgia. In East Georgia its belt ranges between 600-1200 meters
above the sea level. Bad renewal and focal drying up is caused by decreasing of
biological activity of sprouts of several generations.

Georgia. "News of Agrarian Science", volume 3. (in Russian)
Summary
Bio-ecological and age stages of development and subsequent changes in time
of beech forest types because of the anthropogenic influence and natural
calamities are discussed in the article. For the definition of beech types
classification of indicator plants is suggested, which are diagnostic indicators
of conditions of sprouting places. Method of defining mountain types of beech
forest in different ecological condition is given. Some recommendations are
given on increasing productivity and protective functions of beech forests in
Georgia.

scientifically confirmed corrections in the forest culture systems in Tbilisi
neighborhood.
Vachnadze G. - Substitution of pine by deciduous species in Borjomi resort
forests. "Problems of Agrarian Science", volume 30.
Summary
On the example of Borjomi forestry the processes of species substitution in
forest are discussed. Namely, substitution of pine by the species of
less-importance from the viewpoint of health-resort - spruce, beech, hornbeam
and other deciduous species. Peculiarities of proceeding of this process are
analyzed in the relationship with contents, frequency and exposition of coppice.
It has been determined that natural cycle of species substitution proceeding
here is mainly at the stage of ending and no natural factors are able to reverse
this autogenic process in favor of pine.
Tvauri L.- Natural renewal of common yew (Taxus Baccata) and the ways of
increasing of its area in conditions of West Georgia. "News of Agrarian
Science", volume 3, N 4. (in Russian)
Summary
The analysis concerning natural (seeded) renewal of valuable, rare and
disappearing plant species - common yew in the forests of West Georgia is given
in the article. Ways of increasing its area and formation of its plantation is
suggested.
Djaparidze T., Dsotsenidze N. - Effects of environment on formation of
reserve substances in Caucasian fir (abies). "News of Agrarian Science", N 4.
(in Russian)
Summary
Maximal quantity of fats and sugars in juvenile fir (abies) in the
high-mountainous belt is observed from November up to March, in the middle belt
- in February. At this time minimal decrease of starch or its full disappearance
is observed. In the low belt with widely distributed species of silver-tree in
winter time sugars and fats are converted only in a small part of starch. In
this case entire disappearance of starch isnt observed. (???)

specification of east border of Caucasian fir (abies) and Western spruce and
their biological properties. "News of Agrarian Science", N 4, volume 3. (in
Russian)
Summary
Present eastern borders of spruce and fir (abies) reach Tbilisi meridian, but
according to paleobotanical excavations fossils of spruce and fir (abies) are
found more eastward in the steppes of Shiraki and in Apsheron tertiary
sedimentary strata, which shows that area of spruce and fir (abies) was more
wider than today.
